Designing and makingLarge-scale fibre art is created working with natural materials. The work is informed and influenced by the land we live on.
We are continuously exploring ways to strengthen the supply chain, encompassing heritage, history and the future, and to give new meaning, relevance and purpose to our designs. Natural dyes are created from plants like heather, cowslip and Scottish thistle collected from the land surrounding the studio and further afield. We are creating a 'plant bank' of the vegetable materials available in this part of Scotland. Over the last 15 months we've been working on the research project The Colours of Orains , supported by The National Lottery through Creative Scotland. |
WorkshopsWe offer in-person and remote workshops, for individuals, small groups, corporate and at community events.
Workshops are designed "made to measure": from remote one hour every week to half-day workshops at and from the studio, to week-long residencies including accommodation nearby. Workshops are suitable for everybody aged 5 and over. |
Creative consultancyWe have experience of working with a wide range of clients, from Scottish public sector projects to corporate events.
We have advised on the use of natural dyes in third party products and have directed events, opening of (faculties of) universities, organising dinners 'on the roof' of a multi story car park and directing conferences on environmental and social sustainability. We have diverse and international experience but are rooted locally |
