"The Winter Sessions"
During this 4 hour online Creative Zoom Workshop you will create your personal piece of art in the online company of artist & craftsman Pieter van der Werf at the Orains Studio.
Your half day
The "3D Textile" session includes themes such as architecture, sculpture, fashion, Bauhaus, De Stijl and these will be 'woven' into one project and process. The workshop session includes textile creation by means of wet felting and the introduction to natural dyes and pigments with local botanicals.
No previous experience is required. Materials will be sent to you well in advance of the workshop day.
About the Orains Studio
Pieter’s art spans three decades and includes exhibiting at Sculpture by the Sea, Sydney, with the installation “A Beachcomber’s House”, then - in 2006 - already highlighting the issue of plastics in the oceans.
Pieter set up the Orains Design Partnership in 2012. He runs the studio based on the principles of ecology and sustainability: you can read more about the studio’s philosophy on sustainable making in Craft Scotland’s Make It Green blog here https://www.craftscotland.org/journal/article/pieter-van-der-werf
The studio’s work encompasses the making of large textile wall art and researching and creating natural dyes and pigments. Orains is listed in the directory of the Crafts Council UK and supports The Campaign for Wool.

A maximum of four people can attend this workshop to ensure the best one-to-one guidance and tuition.
A single booking for four people receives a 10% discount.
Gift vouchers available.
Price per person per half-day: £75.00, including all materials, packing & postage to an address in the UK (inquire about world wide shipping & delivery times). Materials include wool fibres, felting materials and information about fibres, wool, textiles, natural dyes & botanicals
A Zoom link will be sent to you by email 3 days in advance and 30 minutes before each workshop session.
