Wool is Cool
Pieter van der Werf is a Dutch textile designer & visual artist. He designs and creates large scale art pieces and interior design products made exclusively with Scottish wool. The wool is sourced directly from selected farms in Argyll & Bute.
Designs include bespoke architectural pieces together with wall hangings, a lighting range using LED technology and interior products such as rugs.
Pieter's visual arts practice spans the last 30 years producing conceptual art programmes, making sculptures and leading creative content in development projects. He exhibited in Sydney at Sculpture by The Sea (2006) using seaweed as a core material and has long been interested in working with natural and - sometimes - overlooked materials.
Pieter now lives in Scotland on the beautiful West Coast. Orains designs are in private collections internationally including Los Angeles, Sydney, London, The Netherlands and of course Scotland.
Orains is Gaelic for orange, the colour of joy and creativity.
