Wool is Cool
Pieter van der Werf is an artist & designer based on the West Coast of Scotland. He designs and creates large scale art pieces and interior design products made exclusively with Scottish wool.
Pieces include bespoke architectural items together with wool murals and a lighting range using LED technology.
Pieter's visual arts practice spans the last 30 years producing conceptual art programmes, making sculptures and leading creative content in development projects. He's exhibited at Sculpture by The Sea (Sydney, Australia, 2006) using seaweed as a core material and focusing on plastic waste in the Pacific. He is interested in working with natural and - sometimes - overlooked materials.
Orains pieces are held in private collections internationally, including the USA, Australia, The Netherlands and the UK.
Orains is the Gaelic word for the colour orange.
